Turkey Trot

On Wednesday, November 10th we will have our 5th  Annual Turkey Trot and Turkey Bowl.   We will plan on beginning our competition around 2:00pm.    Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th will all       participate in that order, beginning around 2pm.

The Turkey Trot will be a cross country race that will take place within the Follett school district property.  It will be between 300 and 800 meters, depending on the grade level.  Each grade will compete with their own class.  Each class winner will receive a frozen turkey.  Each class will have one winner.  Each student will participate in the event.  We have been preparing for this race for a several weeks and will continue to do so.   Again, every child will run/jog/walk in this event.  The kids know their route and they can run it for practice between now and Nov. 5.  PreK & K will run inside the football field.  1st & 2nd will run a short route around the outside football field and back up onto the fb field.  2nd-5th will run around the football & softball fields.  It is a little longer route.

After the races, we will meet in the old gym and have an awards ceremony and witness the Teacher    Turkey Bowl contest.  The awards ceremony should take place around 3:00pm  This bowl off will be  between each elementary teacher.  Each teacher will bowl a frozen turkey down the court in an attempt to knock down as many bowling pins as possible.  The winning teacher will receive a frozen turkey.

Everyone is invited to come be a part of this event.  The race route will be marked and spectators will be encouraged to spread out throughout the area to cheer and encourage our students.   Participation and giving great effort with a good attitude has been the emphasis, not winning and losing.  Please make plans to attend and support our students and programs here at Follett ISD.  We are so excited!
